The Hardiman, Galway
Where exactly is The Hardiman in Galway?
We are right on Eyre Square, in the very heart of Galway City, in a landmark building that has stood here since 1852. The train and bus station is about a minute’s walk away, and Shop Street, the Latin Quarter and the city’s pubs, restaurants and theatres are all within a short stroll. It is one of the most central hotels in Galway.
Does The Hardiman have parking?
We offer valet parking at approximately €35 per day, subject to availability, with a set-down area at the main entrance while you check in. There is also discounted parking nearby at the Hynes Yard Multi-Storey car park on Merchants Road, at approximately €12 per day. Because the hotel is so central, most guests park once and explore Galway on foot. Please confirm current rates with our reception team.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 3.30pm and check-out is by 12 noon. If you arrive early we are happy to store your luggage so you can start exploring and can have it brought to your room once it is ready. A late check-out can sometimes be arranged on request at reception, subject to availability and an additional fee.
What dining is there at the hotel?
There is plenty to choose from under one roof. The Oyster Room is our à la carte restaurant overlooking Eyre Square, serving local and seasonal dishes for dinner from 5pm, Monday to Saturday. The Gaslight Brasserie serves breakfast daily, the Oyster Bar does all-day sharing boards, light bites and cocktails from 7.30am, and the Parlour Lounge is the home of our Afternoon Tea. Beneath the hotel, MacNeill’s Pub serves Irish food with live music and sport, seven days from noon. Booking ahead is recommended, especially at weekends.
Is The Hardiman a luxury hotel?
Yes. We are a 4-star luxury hotel, widely regarded as one of the most iconic in Galway City. Behind our Victorian façade you’ll find elegant rooms and suites, from Classic and Deluxe Rooms to the James Hardiman Suite, along with warm, easy hospitality and a genuine sense of place that a chain hotel cannot match.
Is there a swimming pool or spa?
The Hardiman does not have its own pool or spa — our focus is a central, historic city-centre stay with excellent dining and service. If leisure facilities are essential to your trip our team can point you to nearby options, and for a day out the Salthill seafront and promenade are a short trip away. (Confirm current wording with the hotel team.)
What is there to do near the hotel?
You are surrounded by the best of Galway: Eyre Square, Shop Street and the Latin Quarter, the Spanish Arch and Galway City Museum, plus theatres and live music, all within a few minutes’ walk. The Hardiman is also a natural base for the Wild Atlantic Way, and our team can help arrange day trips to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Connemara and the Aran Islands.
