Our Irish Pub – MacNeill’s
Nestled under the Hardiman, MacNeill’s is cosy and intimate, full of nooks and crannies, character & characters, warmth, and welcomes waiting to be explored.
Its charming interior, with its dark wood panelling, stained glass windows, and cosy nooks, exudes a timeless Irish pub ambiance. MacNeill’s has had many different identities over the centuries, O’Flaherty’s perhaps the most famous, but at all times it has been the favoured haunt for locals, travellers, and literary luminaries, earning its place in the annals of Galway’s social and cultural heritage.
With live music, warm hospitality, delicious hearty food and an extensive selection of beverages, MacNeill’s continues to be a cherished hub for those seeking a taste of Galway’s genuine and convivial spirit.
How to Get here
By Air:
From Shannon Airport
By bus: Take Bus Eireann or the Expressway bus from the airport to Galway Bus Station. From the bus station we are a 2 minute walk.
By car/taxi: Take the M18 towards the N6 in Galway. This is a 90 kilometre journey and takes approximately one hour.
From Dublin Airport
By bus: There are a number of buses operating a Dublin airport to Galway service. Prior booking is advised. See Citylink, Expressway and Bus Eireann for timetables and bookings. From the bus station we are a 2 minute walk.
By car/taxi: Take the M1 towards Galway and then take the exit M4 for 45 kilometres. Continue onto the M6 for 57 kilometres. This takes approximately two and a half hours.
From Ireland West Knock Airport
By bus: served directly by Expressway Route 64 & Bus Eireann Route 440 which provide regular services throughout the day, seven days a week.
By car/taxi: is a 70 minute journey from Galway.
By Rail:
The Hardiman is perfectly located for rail and bus travel. The Galway train station was built by the same company that built The Hardiman and is directly behind the hotel. Known, as the most central train station in Ireland, arriving in Galway by train is easy with all the shops, bars and cafés of Galway City within a short stroll. We are happy to store your luggage on the day you check out if you have a few hours before your train or bus departs.
Bus tours of Connemara and the Cliffs of Moher regularly depart from Galway Coach Station, which is located, just a 1-minute stroll from The Hardiman
